Electronics Assembly Technician

Hey there, Electronics Assembly Technician!

Are you looking for a role where you can put your excellent attention to detail and electronic soldering skills to good use? Look no further, because Altimex has the perfect opportunity for you!

At Altimex, we’re an award-winning supplier of electronic manufacturing services, supporting bespoke projects and large-scale high-volume rollouts. Our team of highly trained electronic assembly experts provides a familiar and friendly service of a smaller company, with the ability to tackle projects of a much larger scale. And we’ve served a range of sectors, from aerospace to automotive, communications to security, LED lighting to traffic management, and more!

As our Electronics Assembly Technician, you’ll be responsible for assembling products using both Plated Through Hole (PTH) and Surface Mount (SMT) assembly techniques. But don’t worry, you won’t be going it alone! You’ll be reporting to our Production Supervisor and working alongside a friendly and professional team in our Chester location.

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Preparing electronic components for production
  • Operating equipment in accordance with company and IPC standards
  • Identifying components and placing and hand-soldering PTH Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
  • Working to drawings and bills of material
  • Ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with quality management system and ISO 9001
  • Carrying out all tasks in compliance with company health and safety procedures

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to have electronics assembly experience in a manufacturing environment, proven experience in electronic soldering and testing activities, and the ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematic diagrams, and work instructions. Excellent organization and time management skills with high levels of attention to detail are a must, as well as a proactive, driven, and willing work ethic with the ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously.

While not essential, experience of sub-assembly work following standardized assembly instructions, and operational familiarity with soldering irons, hand tools, electrical test, and precision measuring instruments would be highly advantageous. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these skills, as training will be provided to the right candidate! If shortlisted for an interview, you’ll be asked to complete a short soldering exercise to demonstrate your skills and competence.

In return, you will be part of an ambitious business where hard work, dedication, and contribution to business goals will be noticed and rewarded. You will receive a salary dependent on experience with the occasional opportunity for overtime, a performance bonus, annual leave starting at 20 days plus bank holidays rising by one day each year to a maximum of 25 days plus public holidays, and free onsite car parking. This is a permanent contract type.

So don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to build your career with Altimex!
